About the 2023 trip:
A unique chance to travel to a hidden part of France, where Provence meets the Alpine chain, with a fully bilingual art teacher (yours truly : dual citizen France/USA) !
Staying in an ancient Château turned comfortable Gîte Rural (country inn), you will discover local villages that have stood for centuries, eat delicious locally produced food, and make art from fresh vantage points.
We will :
delve into a variety of techniques including pigment layering, line, color, composition, light and dark value building, and more
discover Die (pronounced DEE), a 3d century fort/town, still inhabited today. We will visit its farmers’ market in the busting cobblestone square, 12th century cathedral and small artisan boutiques.
immerse ourselves in wild nature : clear-water riverbeds and breath-taking views, taking advantage of new perspectives in order to engage with the environment artistically, experiencing how each setting changes the work
explore how to go from plein-air to the studio and maintain the fresh aspect of our craft. We will work on filling sketchbooks with studies and on-site sketches, and you will have the opportunity learn how to take photographs to use as a continuation of plein air work.
create a travel journal, paintings, sketches while engaging with new locations. See the world in a whole new way!
Comme take on new challenges in art-making within a friendly, no-pressure context !
No previous experience is required, and all previous expertise is welcome !
In order to ensure that you receive individual attention, this unique experience is reserved for a small group of maximum 8 people.
